The Museum of Aloha Experience

At some museums, you learn about other people. At the Museum of Aloha, you’re the artist.

Just inside the door, you pay your entrance fee at a small ticket booth. Then, you immediately enter a small maze of plastic lei-hundreds of them, hung from the ceiling.

From there—if you make it out of the maze (just kidding, you will)—you proceed through various rooms. Each has a unique photo opportunity theme.

(We don’t want to spoil too many surprises—but if you want to see exactly what awaits you, here’s Instagram photos tagged #museumofaloha)

You can take as much time as you want to get the perfect photo.

The Museum of Aloha was at Pearlridge Mall during June. It reminded us of the work of Yayoi Kusama, a Japanese artist famous for creating immersive experiences.

Make sure you are feeling the aloha spirit before your visit to the Museum of Aloha. If you are not yet in the aloha spirit, perhaps a cocktail at Limon or a Lagunitas IPA at Rock n Fun is in order?

You don’t want to get so much liquid aloha that you can’t keep your phone steady, but it might not hurt to get the creative juices flowing a little.

Again, the Museum of Aloha is only open through August 12, so two weekends left!
