Under-the-Radar Breakfast Options In Kapolei
Today's Supporting Sponsor: Kapolei Lofts | Studio-living in the heart of Kapolei
We have some terrific breakfast options in Kapolei. There’s My Cafe and their popular specialty pancakes. Koa Pancake House has all the classics at very low prices. And if you want a full menu, there’s always Zippy’s.
But if you want something different (or are in a hurry) here are a few places you might not have thought of.
Kalapawai Market & Cafe
Kalapawai gives you your choice of breakfast experience. You can grab a coffee and pastries from the counter, or, from the same counter, order off their hot breakfast menu.
They don’t serve omelets, pancakes, or anything else cooked to order. Instead the menu focuses on assembly-style food — biscuits and gravy, a kalua pork breakfast burrito, and our favorite, the lox bagel.
Each dish comes with your pick of green salad or a hash brown. You can then sit inside the restaurant, or out on their covered lanai — which is always a nice choice on the cooler mornings.
Ho Ho Chinese Cuisine
This Chinese buffet opens at 6am Monday-Saturday (8am Sundays), serving a very hearty manapua and a few other dim sum items. The meaty manapua is a bargain at just two bucks.
Da Cove is right next door to Koa Pancake House at Ka Makana Aliʻi. It’s a good spot for a late, but farm-fresh and filling breakfast. Da Cove opens at 10am, serving acai bowls and a limited hot breakfast menu (hot breakfast is only at the Kapolei location, so not shown on the menu link below). Their farm omelet is very tasty — made-to-order with fresh veggies.
Chun Wah Kam
Craving fried rice for breakfast? This noodles, dim sum, and take-out Chinese place is open at 8:30am every day, serving their full buffet lineup of Chinese classics, plate lunch style.

Lunch is served! Pictured is our Mini Plate, but if you know us, there’s nothing mini about it. If you think you can handle more, we dare you to try and finish our Regular Plate. . . . Did you know…it wasn’t until the 70’s that Chun Wah Kam expanded its menu to offer manapua, dim sum, and plate lunch? The founder’s son came up with the idea after moving home from the mainland. . . #chunwahkam #wannamanapua #instafood #hawaiisbestkitchens #platelunch #kanakattack
Starting in July 2019, they’re open at 6:30am Monday-Friday, but serving manapua and pork hash only.
This plate lunch spot opens at 7am, serving basic breakfast plates and omelets at very low prices.
