NEW: Get Dole Whip At Mehana Snack Shop

For some Kapolei residents, Dole Whip is now just steps from their doors.

Mehana Snack & Surf, the small lunch/snack/surf rental shop inside the Mehana development, has a new soft-serve machine. They’re featuring Pineapple Dole Whip as one of their two flavors.

Dole Whip is a must-get on the Dole Plantation tour in Wahiawa, but it’s also wildly popular at Disney theme parks. According to Bon Appetit magazine:

Since the dessert’s mid-80s inception, Dole Whip demand has been consistently high, with lines longer than some Disney rides. In 2016, between Disneyland and Walt Disney World, the theme parks sold over 3.4 million cups of Dole Whip.

The need for Dole Whip has spawned many adventures in home chemistry. One blogger’s DIY version has more than 1 million views on YouTube.

Happily you can just make the short walk, bike ride, or drive to Mehana during lunch or after school. They’re open weekdays from 9am-4pm.

Mehana Snack Shop owner Andy Banquil strongly recommends adding a dusting of li hing mui powder. This adds a pop of sourness to contrast with the sweetness of the pineapple flavor, and also a pop of color for any Instagramming you plan to do.

Mehana also sells a selection of drinks, snacks, smoked/frozen meat, and the freshest poke in town.

You can find them on Kakala St., which is Mehana’s main drag, next to Mehana Neighborhood Park.
