The New Kapolei Starbucks Is Open

Opening day at the new Starbucks — behind the new Hele on Kapolei Parkway, near Ft. Barrette Rd. — was Friday, October 25th.

The new location is a sit-down café as well as a drive-thru. They have everything you’d expect: Hot breakfast sandwiches, light lunch options, all of your favorite coffee drinks. Plus, they have Nitro Cold Brew on tap.

At 7am, a steady stream of customers was coming through the doors, and the drive-thru was three cars deep. Friendly store employees, decked out in lei and lei poʻo, greeted everyone who came through the door.

Customers included:

  • Elementary school kids and their parents
  • High school kids fueling up before class
  • Employees from the soon-to-open Residence Inn next door

The store feels very spacious. It’s laid out like a rectangle, and you enter on the long side. The counter is straight ahead. On your left is a large area for mobile pickups. On your right is a colorful mural and a spacious seating area with light natural wood chairs and tables.

The parking lot is small, but wasn’t full — the store seemed to be getting lots of walk-ins. There’s also a small bike rack for folks who arrive on two wheels.

The store employs 20-25 people — here are some of them at a pre-opening brunch.

Store hours are 4am-10pm, so commuters will be able to zip through and get their morning coffee on the way to town. People who want to hang out at night — but not spend $$ at a bar or restaurant — now have a new option.

You can follow the store on Instagram for specials and updates.
