West Side Bar & Grill Opens Saturday in Kapolei
The menu has a local / plantation-style feel, with entree options like:
- Grilled Pork Chops
- Smoked Meat (pictured above)
- Crispy Pork Belly
- Teri Pork Belly
- Garlic Shrimp
West Side Bar & Grill also has a big pupu menu, which includes many of the entree items in shareable portions, as well as popular shareables like:
- Shrimp Tempura
- Fish Patties
- Ahi Poke
- Bacon-Wrapped Asparagus
- Fried Noodles
They’ll have a wine list and local microbrews on tap.
The owners are a husband and wife duo: John Adolpho (the chef) and Lehua Pate (everything else). The couple met on Molokai where they worked at Pau Hana Inn – John serving as bartender and Lehua as bar manager. They always talked about owning their own bar and grill when they relocated to Oʻahu. Now that their kids are grown, they’re making that dream come true.
The couple also owns Oʻahu Grill in Kaimuki, which has a luau-style menu. Lehua told me that John has been working hard on the plantation-style dishes and is excited to debut them for Kapolei. “He loves to create moments and make people happy,” she says.
Lehua says that the goal is a laid-back, casual feel with good food and stellar service. Side Street Inn, the popular bar/restaurant in town, is one of their favorite places, and they hope to bring a similar family and fun vibe to Kapolei.
Hours for the West Side Bar & Grill (590 Farrington Hwy.).: Sunday-Thursday, 11am-10pm; Friday-Saturday, 11am-Midnight. Dinner service will end at 8pm both nights.
