The Best Things To Do In Kapolei

Today's Supporting Sponsor: Kapolei Lofts | Studio-living in the heart of Kapolei

Broadway on Kap. Parkway

Performing Arts Center of Kapolei is putting on the musical version of Disney’s Newsies for us — starring all local kids. Come see if you can spot the next Auliʻi Cravalho.

Opening night is Friday the 22nd, and the show runs through March 9, mostly on weekend nights. Not only is there singing and dancing, but there’s chili cheese nachos for sale too — and you’re allowed to eat in the theater.

All the shows are at Kapolei High. Tickets start at $7. Here’s all the dates and ticket info.

Big, Big Machines

Fans of seeing large machines in action — I’m looking at you, three-year-old boys — will want to take advantage of the free open house at the PVT Integrated Solid Waste Management facility. The plant processes 1,775 tons of construction debris every day.

PVT is hosting an open house on Saturday, it’s a rare peek inside the process that keeps this island from being buried underneath old drywall and nails.

Hula Sunday

It’s the last Sunday of the month, so that means it’s Kanikapila Sunday at Ka Makana Aliʻi.
At noon Halau O Napuala’ikauika’iu performs.

Mike Tulba — you’ve heard his original songs on KINE 105 — performs from 1pm-3pm.

Other events this weekend:

Saturday

Kapapapuhi Point Park Restoration, a partnership of Blue Zones Project and HOH808, 9am-Noon.

Saturday Story Time, Kapolei Public Library, 10am-10:45am.

Kapolei Village Center Night Market, (that’s the shopping center on Kapolei Parkway that Foodland’s in), 4pm-8pm.

Paint Your Paradise: Art Class with Danielle Groff, Pictures Plus @ Ka Makana Aliʻi, 5:30pm-7:30pm

I do my best to find events, but if I’ve missed something let me know — leave a comment, message me on Facebook, or email seth@howzitkapolei.com
